Class Information
Art Classes consist of the study of art in the two-dimensional form. Graphite, charcoal, soft pastel, oil pastel, watercolor pencil and paints, acrylic and oil bars are the taught mediums.
This takes place in a comfortable and inviting setting. Students are invited to bring their own music unless certain music pertains to an art history lesson, such as Jazz for Matisse’s Jazz Collection.
A short art history lesson or technique demonstration is given during the mid-class time in which English Tea is served. At this time the student are invited to express their thoughts on what made them happy or unhappy that week. This has come to be called "Happy and Crappy Thoughts." This time, to my surprise, is seriously important to the high school classes and not to be skipped. My adult classes seem to enjoy this too.
Two summer sessions are available for the last week in May and the first week in June. Class times are from 12:00 to 4:00PM. The first session, May 26-30, will consist of reverse painting on plexiglass to be presented in a shadowbox with back lighting to enhance the paintings brushstrokes. I saw this in Sausalito years ago, it should be fun and rewarding. We will also work with batik, fabric dye with the controlled use of wax. Multicolors will produce a beautiful end product. I also plan a project of mosaic rendering on wood, the end results are astonishing no matter what the age of the student. Other smaller projects are planned and will happen if time permits.
The second week of art camp is sculpture. We will work with metal, wire, wood and plastic along with other mediums as time permits. During this class, mobiles such as Calder's are to be created and a four foot horse designed and produced. All students are asked to bring in cast offs of the mediums. This is going to be great and rewarding to all who participate. Perspective is to be the main teaching in this class. Also a triptich, a three part segmented work including different sculpture material along with paint is to be in the works. All students are taught at their own levels. I was taught in a multiaged setting starting at the age of six and found it very advantageous to work off of different age perspectives.
Classes will be offered first to currently enrolled students and open after to the public. I will have a waiting list for the new students and they will be notified as to their acceptance. These are for children ages 7 through high school.
Price: $350.00 for each single session, $600 for both.
I have a degree in Fine Arts and a minor in Art History with a Psych second.
I accept Visa, Mastercard, Discover, Debit and American Express, cash works for me, too.
Semi-private and private lessons are also available.
There is a twice yearly supplies fee of $75.00. When the Fall fee is paid, the student's place in their desired class will be reserved. Each month’s tuition is based on how many days I offer classes. $20.00 per class times the number of class days. This is due at the beginning of each month. There is a $20.00 late fee if tuition is paid after the 15th of the month. Missed classes are still paid, a makeup class may be attended if available.
Thank you for your interest.
